Artistic Inspiration

The area surrounding Blackmount has inspired many artists, the most famous of whom is the landscape painter Sir Edwin Landseer, most well known for The Monarch of the Glen who was a frequent visitor to Blackmount.

Another well know artist who visited here was Francis Seymour Hayden, the brother in law of James McNeil Whistler who was known as an artist in his own right and  made an engraving of pines at Inveroran in 1873. (shown opposite)

The spectacular views around the hotel have inspired many present day photographers and this area is a constant feature in postcards and calendars of Scotland.

We have postcards of the local area and further a field for sale and are presently showing photographs by Tom Coffield, a local photographer based in Crianlarich, who handmade the frames.

If you have an interest in landscape or wildlife photography or painting then there are few better locations in Scotland to inspire you.

Here is a selection of our favourite photos taken by staff and guests in the last couple of years.
