1

Stob Gabhar

Hill Climb – 5 hours

Stob Gabhar can be climbed alone or with Stob a’ Choire Odhair

From Inveroran, follow the main road to Forest Lodge, then turn left onto the clashgour track (no vehicles).  At the old Schoolhouse turn left and follow Alt Toaig into the Corrie between Stob Gabhar and Stob a’ Choire Odhair.  You then have the choice of climbing one or both Munros.

2

Loch Dochard

Flat Track – 8 miles

Loch Dochard is a beautiful remote loch in the shadow of Meall nan Eun.  It is around four miles from Inveroran and is well worth the effort to reach.  You take the same path as Stob Gabhar but continue on past the old Schoolhouse for a couple of miles.

3

Bridge of Orchy Loop

Small steep hill – track 5 miles

This route follows the west highland way to Bridge of Orchy and returns along the road, taking you through the Doire Darach Caledonian pinewood.  Red and roe deer are often spotted along this rout.

4

Military Road

Stone road – 9 miles.

You can follow the west highland way north to Glencoe and catch the citylink bus back to Bridge of Orchy, or alternatively you can catch the morning bus up and end your walk with a drink in our bar.  You will be crossing the edge of Rannoch moor and this walk gives you a chance to appreciate the remoteness of the area.

5

Clachlet Travese

Strenuous Hill Climb – 17 miles

This is a very long and strenuous hill walk which should only be undertaken by experienced walkers.  If route 4 is the low road, then this is the high road and it is one of Scotlands classic hill routes.  The route takes in the peaks of  Stob a’ Ghlais Choire,  Clach Leathad,  Meall a Bhuridh, and Creise.  It was recently featured in TGO magazine, which gave us a rave review.

6

Ben Inverveigh

Medium Hill Climb – No Path on some sections.

Right outside the front door.  You can make this a short or long walk,  nipping up to the top on clear paths or hiking round the horseshoe for a full days walk.

7

Druimliaghart

Forestry Track/Hard Road 4 miles

This is the birth place of the Gaelic poet Duncan Ban MacIntyre and there is a monument to him among the ruins of the settlement.  It is about a mile and a half from the hotel and involves climbing a gate..

8

Ben Dorain

This is the mountain which dominates the skyline when you pass Bridge of Orchy by car or train.  It is climbed from Bridge of Orchy Station  and can be combined by its neighbour Ben Dothaidh.

9

Glen Kinglass

This is a long walk, we would recommend starting at Taynuilt and following the dirt track along the side of Loch Etive, before turning down Glen Kinglass, and heading across to Inveroran.

10

Glenorchy

From Bridge of Orchy you can follow the river  Orchy through Glen Orchy, along a recently made forestry track.  This route is especially suitable for mountain bikes.

Inveroran Hotel is overlooked by several Munros, including Ben Dorain and Stob Gabhar.  Information on all the Munros can be found at www.munromagic.com The hotel is a starting point for several Munro walks and is only a few miles from many more, including Ben Lui and the Glencoe Mountains.  There are over 20 more Munro tops within 20 km of Inveroran.

As well as the West Highland Way, there are other rights of way and you can walk from here into Glen Lyon and Glen Kinglass, along some of the most remote and beautiful walking tracks in Scotland.  If you enjoy shorter strolls there are some circular routes, to Bridge of Orchy via the West Highland Way and back, and along Linne nam Beathach to Loch Dochard or over Ben Inverveigh.  If you are out walking, you are welcome to drop into the bar or coffee shop.

We encourage all walkers, residents or not to leave route cards when they go out into the hills.  If you do leave a route card, please let us know when you have returned.   Car parking for non-residents who are planning to climb from Inveroran is available near Forest Lodge.  We also recommend that you should properly plan your routes and make sure they are within your capability.
